Social May 17, 2009
Marcus and Diana Baudhuin opened their home to a wonderful social. People began arriving around 11:00 a.m. At noon the chow line was opened. We had more than enough to eat and I'm sure I speak for everyone who attended. The food was wonderful along with the hospitality of our hosts. I counted 14 bikes plus those who arrived in four wheelers. We had a very good turnout even though it was quite windy and a bit cool.
A meeting took place after everyone had eaten. Chapter Director Pat Williams began with new business. He read off the new sponsors, obtained by members, to be added to our website. He had Mary Rose Clark bring us up to date on Sherri Vonderheid's surgery and how well it has gone for her. Many prayers to her and her family through this difficult time. We were all very happy to hear it went well. Mary Rose explained the camping site information and Mike Hubert explained how accommodating the owners of this camp ground were for us.
Mary Rose went on to explain the upcoming Tailgate Party in Chippewa Falls and its schedule which is also on our website. Information regarding the T-Shirts was given out as well. With that the floor was turned over to Marcus Baudhuin who also explained some of the schedule for the events and 4 different rides which will be offered while you are there. Marcus explained that there may be a CPR course offered but because of sickness in the family of the instructor, it is not a certainty.
CD Pat Williams announced a possible move he once told us he would not do. He is being considered for an assistant to the Executive Director Bruce & Linda Keenon. Pat told us a month or so ago he was not considering it and had turned away any thought of it. Because of recommendations applied by several within our chapter, he has now reconsidered and feels that with the complete support of his wife and many of his friends within the chapter he would now be willing to take up this challenge. Pat has spoken with Bruce Keenon a couple of times and will meet with him again while at Gold Rush. He assured us all that his love for this chapter would always be considered and the fact that he and Barb are not moving anywhere means they'll be very involved in assisting anyone who would step forward and take over responsibilities as new Chapter Directors. There is no doubt Pat and Barb could be a huge influence on the direction of GWTA. All who know Pat know he will be a wonderful representative for GWTA and more over our little corner of a truly wonderful organization. Pat and Barb were both very humbled by this huge consideration.
Anna Verber was taking orders for our chapter T-Shirts while some of the gals continued selling 50/50 raffle tickets. Shortly afterward the drawing took place. It was a fun day for all of us.
